Well i have about 50,started when i was 16 and will never stop getting them.Im totaly addicted and just love them.

WOW Poppy!! 50 tatts?? You mustn't have much skin left to work on!

I have 10 and just about to go get number 11. Having 'Re e merito' ('This through merit', in Latin) tattooed on the side of my hand. It's the quote on my family crest.

I agree that tattoos are very addictive.

wow Poppy 50!  Awesome!

I LOVE tattoos but only have 2 small ones.  Until very recently I worked in conservative jobs and I would definitely be quietly overlooked if I had as many tattoos as I'd like.

Now I'm chaning my career though I have a nice huge one in mind as a graduation present!

Poppy & Dayne are all your tatts meaningful or are some just things you saw/thought of and liked with no particular reason other than liking the look of them?

Hi Jubes. Would love to hear more about your planned big piece. Is it something you have designed yourself and therefore has some significance?

All my tatts have meaning to me. I'm careful about the choices I make as I want it to reflect something very important to me. I also have a very good artist who listens to what I want and generally delivers exactly what I ask for, and for a very good price!

I actually stumbled across a tattoo that will basically cover my side, from where my femur joins my hip joint, and goes up over my ribs (yowch I know) and branches out under my arm in both directions.  

What I found is a cherry blossom tree with a bird on a branch.  That doesn't resonate with me, but the concept does and I like the placement very much...my friend is an artist and she's working on something that is colourful, has vines growing up a tree and is meant to loosely symbolise my general trust in the universe and belief that we have all always been and all always will be.

It's a loose concept at the moment!  My friend is working on it with her very capable hands.  I'm not creative enough to come up with much myself but she knows what I'm hoping to display.

That sounds awesome Jubes! I love the concept, and when in future you have it done, I would love to see the completed work! A friend of mine recently had a large piece (his first tatt, mind you!) that went from below his hip right across the side of his toosh and up his rib cage. It's an amazing piece (tribal design with the eye of Isis in the centre), and considering it was his very first, a brave step! He said it didn't hurt that much going over the ribs.  

My largest piece is on my right forearm. It's a rainbow dragon, which encompasses the year I was born (Chinese year of the Dragon, 1964) and my pride in my lesbian status. On my left arm and hand I have 6 coloured stars. These are probably my favourite. They symbolise my battle with mental illness, 'turning scars into stars'. I'm planning another tattoo for my upper arm of a pirate woman (like an old fashioned pin up girl) draped over an anchor, to honour my father who was a naval officer and captain of river boats. I'm really looking forward to that one.

I am a big fan of pinups!

I drove for 3 months through a couple of states holidaying at the beginning of this year and one of the fellas I met and travelled with for a bit had quite the array of pinup and 'greaser' themed tattoos.  He just liked them, very few of his tattoos had any real meaning.

That will be awesome when you get your pinup...I decided I would like to go to LA Ink (is that the one run by the female tattooist???) if I got a pinup because she's so great at portraits.  I can't remember her name...Kat maybe?

Anyway deciding and actually saving to go are two different things lol.

The dragon on the arm sounds niiice...I'm going to call my friend and see how she's going on my design I'm all re-inspired now.

Have a few which a couple of them were done earlier this year.One is a fairly big tatt on my back that are portraits and took a couple of sitting to do..however it didn't hurt as much as the one on my foot ouch.... but luv them all )

ok, I just had a wonderful piece I designed put on my right arm - over a dreadful tattoo i did myself during my stromy adolesence (sigh)

i have another self-done tat on my belly (what was i thinking?) that i'm thinking about getting fixed one day.

But looking at this thread I am thinking "uh-oh, it IS addictive!" I'd love more but really, where do I put them? i'm freckle and mole city, maybe I could do a connect - the - dots?

LOL BeulahLand @ connect the dots. I was checking out some sites on tattoos and actually saw one that WAS a connect the dots. If you did join them the image was a giraffe.

Yes they are very addictive. I went and got my hand tattoo, and absolutely love it. It may be small, but the significance to me is great. I've chosen my next tatt, the pinup girl, and plan to get that in May. I eventually want to get a large tatt on my right calf. I'm thinking of collecting a theme of things that have been important in my life and getting my tattooist to come up with a unique design just for me. I'm not sure quite what to include in that one tho, but I'm sure we can come up with something.

I have two, with number three and four occurring in two weeks with my g/f and our two daughters comming and getting theres, I know, feels kinda weird but great at the same time, then number five, which is being desinged by myself and touched up to meet cultural beliefs later in the year, its a fairly prominent large one so it will take time.

they all have significant meaning, hold beliefs and are memorable.

I am totally addicted and am looking at dates to book in to start my half sleeve.

i love women with tatts and im so intrigued by the artwork and the reason behind it.

mmm. Mine means a great deal to me - it's given me an enormous confidence boost too, which i didn't expect. I guess covering that horrible part of my history with something positve and beautiful felt very empowering.

I have 8, the first I got when I was 17 not much thought went into what I really wanted, I just wanted a tatt. Same with the next 3. The last 3 I designed myself so I'm really happy to have them for the rest of my life.

Ooooooh I only have two BUT am booked in to have a 3rd this coming friday... i'm having a detailed butterfly with skeleton wings in black... not sure WHERE to have it... shoulder/calf or lower back... hopefully will know before I get there!!!

hmmm i think im up to about 28 29 tattoos i never got my first tattoo till i was about 20yrs old,i remember my mum saying she would kick my butt if ever i got a tattoo an well now...my mum is my tattooest, an wat a great job she does xxx
