*puts on dark glasses and clears throat*

.. only when i'm in supermarket queues .. or friends houses.  i don't actually buy them and therefore can't be held accountable for their continued existence.

*skulks off into the shadows*

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

Ummm - the other week I was sick an in bed at home and couldn't really get up to find my copy of the complete works of Shakespeare, which I usually carry around with me, so I kinda *had* to...but that doesn't count does it? My girlfried actually got them , like, *bought* them...

But since I did...Reese Witherspoon is SO not fat, she's lovely and looks like an actual grown up woman. Leave her alone or...!

I wish that the people who make those magazines would do a special issue of pictures of their own fantastic arses on holiday having fun with their loved ones. I bet they are all so beautiful and perfect - no work done either of course.

Probably all bald fat hairy men. Or women married to them.

No offence to any bald fat hairy lesbians reading this.

LMFAO TG
The last time i bought a magazine of that sort was probably for my mum in hospital..oh and my previous grrlfriend.  I havn't bought myself or read those in like 10 years...except when I'm at doctors and havn't brought my knitting along.
I am not joking about the knitting

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

I saw a story on t.V (so it must be true) about those who read gossip mags.
The "expert" said that it only took 4 magazines to hook you in!
"These magazines are highly addictive" she said.

so now doctors offices aren't just drug pushing...

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

I do every so often, can't help it in my circle of friends, I never buy them though.

Most of them are just catchy headlines to get you to buy them. Like one just a while ago said "Who's Gay and Who's Not" curiously I opened it to find nothing new at all...stuff like Oprah Winfrey isn't gay and Ang Jolie MIGHT be Bi....like thanks for the scoop. Oh and the biggest scoop of all Paris Hilton is a slut...would never have guessed that.

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

HAHA i know petticoats ... its SO true ..but dont you find the headlines seem to come into a reality of their own when Big Brother is on.. so many so called inside scoops..so you settle down to be shocked only to find its nothing that wasnt already common knowledge and could be said in 1 sentence.

But i do love the cosmo/cleo mag more than the total trash mag .. you know  ALLL the 'informative' sex tips, the articles on 'boob issues', the retarded fashion advice ie:stove pipe jeans look good on ANY leg shape .. and the headlines like ... 'I had sex for the first time and nearly died'

Its all  soooooooooooo funny

*********** S E X **************

Now that I have your attention....

My mum and I were standing in a supermarket queue one day, when she taps me on the shoulder and goes, what do you notice about every one of those women's and girls magazines, girlfriend, woman's day, cosmo, dolly, etc etc......had a look...... the word SEX is printed somewhere on every cover, and usually highlighted in a bigger font than the rest of the words.
I mean we're all looking for something more interesting than cake recipes, but c'mon, are we really that obsessed.

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

Nup, dont read them.  Not even when Im bored witless in the docs waiting room.  I think they're written in a language I dont understand.  Who ARE those people???

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

Oh yeah, I read them- how else am I supposed to know what is going on? I also watch Dr Phil, Oprah and Judge Judy if I have time off and am sitting at home. I watch the Biggest Loser and Shock Docs, too. I think it was Socrates who said the life without crappy tv and chick mags is not worth living.

Yeah, I'm totally addicted - and I only stopped buying them last year because I discovered pinkisthenewblog.com - like a celeb mag, but free!

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

NO! Not if I can help it.

Supermarket queues and if I have to wait a while to see a doctor. That's about it, just use them to fill in some time.

Can't stand junk TV  junkmail or junk mags.

In other words, I can't stand junk!

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

nah..don't buy them or read them. I havn't bought a gossip mag for about 10 years..with the exception of buying them for a partner .. wouldn't know who is who. my mind feels clearer that i don't need to think about who is having who's baby, what's in or gossip. couldn't give a flying flirt about gossip or name dropping; in the celeb world or my world.
..will have to admit to Dr Phil taped episodes..and Oprah, when I can squeeze her in

Re: Do you read the gossip/celebratory magazines?

A couple of years ago when I was in hospital for a minor op, my former partner brought an OK magazine in for me.

I looked through it and found that I had an overwhelming urge to slit my wrists.

I kept asking myself "who the hell gives a flying f**k about these rich, surgically enhanced, tossers?"

I asked my former partner (politely) not to subject me to this ever again.  Sadly, she forgot and when I was in hospital last year; she did it again!

I had to give the magazine to the first person I found who would take it.  I could not even bear to look inside.

Even now I shudder at the very thought.  I may never recover.
