Curtin University Degree in Visual Art (Open University)

I'm just about to start my first year of this and am wondering if anyone else has either done this degree or something similar?

Hi, I am doing this. Have you started with VIS18 and VSW11? Don't believe for a second about the 9 hours a week they say you will need....it is much much more. Make sure you make good use of the tutors and the message board. I would be happy to chat to you about it. Good luck.

Re: Curtin University Degree in Visual Art (Open University)

Hey there, I'm doing Vis18 and VSW11 this study period too! My first time with open universities. I loved the first print making projects, though as Ive studied printmaking before it was easy for me. Vis18 is another story. Ive done nothing all week to get over the amount of reading I packed in last week!

Hi both

I've started with the printmaking subject. Initially I was going to do both but working full time and a long commute put paid to that.
Going out tomorrow to pick up the bits and pieces for the next assignment.

Re: Curtin University Degree in Visual Art (Open University)

Hi...I enjoyed the printmaking and had a lot of fun with it. I turned my backroom into a printing studio and hung my prints up on a clothes line to dry. It was really enjoyable. Have just submitted my painting unit and had to get an extension on the essay writing due to the fires we had down this way.

cheers

I'm having some issues with the printmaking, the transfer drawing is far too blotchy for my liking. Have taken a break for now and may try again this evening.

Re: Curtin University Degree in Visual Art (Open University)

I would have to say that even though I have some interesting ideas, my technical skills are appalling and are letting me down. And working full time with a 3 hour commute each day doesn't give me a lot of time to practice.

But thanks for checking in with me

I know what you mean about the time juggling. I will be starting sculpture and drawing next SP. I can't wait for it to start. Hope you are getting into the book making ok and that your study group is a chatty one. I was fortunate to be in a group that was very open to exchanging ideas on the forum.

What are you doing next?

Re: Curtin University Degree in Visual Art (Open University)

I'm doing a theory subject next, history of art.
Unfortunately my group are not very chatty at all, and I've had difficulty trying to interact with them. It's a bit disheartening to post your pint and not get any responses.

Keep me up to date with your progress, I'd love to see some of your work sometime too.
